About
“Everything we live through leaves a mark on the canvas of who we are.”
- Jearelyn Suazo
A Contemporary Realist Artist Based in Montreal
Born in Canada with Salvadoran and Honduran roots, Jearelyn is a self taught contemporary realist painter based in Montreal. Her artistic journey began at the age of four, when she first discovered her love for drawing. After stepping away from painting for a period of time, she returned to the medium during her university studies, reconnecting with a part of herself that had always been there.
Today, painting has become a way for Jearelyn to explore the memories, experiences, and emotions that shape us. Her practice is deeply rooted in nostalgia, identity, and the relationship between our past and present.
Her Practice
Working primarily in oil, Jearelyn uses contemporary realism to capture more than what is visible. She is interested in the emotions attached to a place, the feeling behind a memory, and the stories that remain with us long after a moment has passed.
Her paintings often draw from personal experiences, familiar environments, cultural influences, and moments of everyday life. Through these subjects, she creates works that feel personal while leaving room for viewers to see pieces of their own stories within them.
For Jearelyn, a painting is not simply an image. It is a way of preserving a feeling, remembering a moment, and giving meaning to experiences that have helped shape who she is.
