About Art By Jearelyn
Art by Jearelyn is a visual diary of identity, memory, and becoming. My work is fueled by curiosity, the kind that asks why before it asks how. Each piece begins with a question, a feeling, or a moment of self-reflection rather than a desire to simply create something “pretty.” I am drawn to the space between realism and abstraction, paintings that feel familiar from afar but reveal softness, distortion, and emotion the closer you look.
My artistic style evolved through years of experimentation, trying, unlearning, and allowing myself to explore without chasing perfection. I have always been obsessed with realism, but I have learned that perfection lies within imperfection. Over time, I discovered that my work is rooted in portraying places, moments, and details that make us human. I paint memories as photographs hold them, capturing emotion, atmosphere, and fleeting moments of life on canvas.
This approach is deeply connected to my childhood. My parents were passionate about documenting everything that shaped my upbringing, moments, milestones, and everyday life. Those images became quiet witnesses to memory and identity. I am also deeply proud of my Salvadorian and Honduran roots, which continue to shape how I see the world, remember moments, and express emotion through my work. I carry that passion forward, translating it into paint and plastering those memories onto canvas in my own way.
My creative journey began at just four years old, inspired by my father’s love of art and the way he created. Watching him taught me that art is not only about skill but about intention, storytelling, and expression. Art by Jearelyn is not about telling you what to feel. It is about creating space for you to feel something, a pause, a memory, a sense of recognition. Every canvas, print, and shared process is part of an ongoing conversation between artist and viewer, rooted in authenticity, vulnerability, and growth.
The Art.
Inspired by memory, identity, and the world around me, my work captures moments that feel familiar while holding emotional depth beneath the surface. I paint places, details, and experiences as if preserving them in a photograph, translating memory into canvas. Lately, some of my pieces feature white frames, inspired by Polaroid pictures, highlighting the origins of my creative process and my love for capturing moments in time.
Rooted in experimentation, each piece lives between realism and feeling, inviting you to pause, reflect, and recognize something of your own.
