Origin I

Origin I is a painting that reflects the artist’s journey into adulthood, contrasted with the elements that continue to ground her and shape who she is.

Growing up with a dual identity as Honduran and Salvadorian, the artist explores the pride she feels in her roots and the importance of understanding where one comes from. This work also pays tribute to the generations before her, whose sacrifices created the path that allows her to stand where she is today.

Music plays a central role in this piece. Songs like Selena’s Amor Prohibido and Michael Jackson’s Thriller represent the sounds of her upbringing and the way music can instantly transport us back to meaningful memories. The painting contrasts past and present, showing how these influences continue to live within her today.
